Transformers, kicks in disguise?

Nike’s at it again. For better, for worse, they will continue to release limited edition shoes with more themes than trends in the world in order to cash in on another trend/childhood memory.

Ooohhh do I sound bitter/pesimistic or what?

Alright, exiting hater mode, these are actually a pretty cool idea, but I’m not sure it’s anything I’d ever wear. The boxes are awesome, true to the Transformer toy line with the stats on back for the strengths and weaknesses of each robot. Nike worked with Hasbro on getting the feel of the presentation right, and they did a good job there. The colors are accurate at least, but some of the transformers chosen for this run were a little wierd IMO. Megatron is an easy one, Bumblebee is alright I guess (gets a pass for being at least a good looking shoe), but Soundwave? It made sense for my MP3 player, but where did this come from? They could have gone for the obvious Optimus Prime, or how about Starscream, or Jazz? So many cool Transformers they could have used, but Soundwave feels like a let down. Plus it’s the ugliest of the set. Two thumbs down on that choice.

Well, I’m not even going to bother to look for them, so I don’t know what to tell you if you want to get a pair, but good luck. Tell me how you like them.
