Banksy has now infiltrated the legitimate art world

The Bristol Museum has opened it’s doors to the works of Banksy.

His work in spead throughout the museum amongst the rest of the art, sometimes obviously, sometime not so much. It seems his art is starting to make an impact in the mainstream now.

The future looks promising with technology like this. The ability to manipulate digital media gets easier every day. Check out what type of impact things like this might have on advertising as well; In Japan they are already taking advantage of interactive billboards by allowing the crowd passing by to use their cell phones to compete in a game against other people.

Combining the ability to “paint” on media or play/participate in media/ads may create a whole new opportunity for the consumer to really have a say in what type of products or services are promoted and produced for them.

Skate deck art

These are skate decks from New Zeland’s Totem Decks. They used laser etching to engrave the designs onto the decks. The cool part to me is really the top picture, with the 3 decks next to each other creating a portrait. I want to do something like that with a poster or some type of graphic and hang it on my wall. That would be sick. Not so much their picture of a car crashing, it would clash with my Monet. But cool none the less. You would want to hang these up too, prices start at $165 or so, and if you have that kind of scratch for skate decks, you really shouldn’t be skateboarding. You should be paying people to skate for you.

Alison Carmichael

“Words look much nicer when they’re hand lettered.”

If you find that quote on the link, you know why this is relevant. I like that the art is so simple, she just has really nice hand writing, but the places it shows up and what she writes is so every day, it just makes you think. Art can be anywhere and everywhere and such simple placement and design are essential to making sure people can connect and appreciate your work. That is why Virgin Atlantic, Stella Artois, Cadbury’s and the BBC all have employed Alison for her work. Brilliant.

Katamari, in your living room, dining room, or any room in your house

Video game art. An underappreciated category. Since the early days of pong prints to those of you with DOA pillows (you know who you are), video game art is still awating for it’s big break into the mainstream. This isn’t it. But it’s still rad. I want one. For every room in the house. Hook a brotha up?

Seller Loudxmouse on Etsy has created these hand painted Katamari portraits. I am absolutely captivated by the detail and beauty of the katamari ball and it’s surrounding landscapes. If you find your way over here Loudxmouse, you are more than welcome to donate to the RPIWSF(aka The Raging Pandabear IWANTSTUFF foundation), and know that your donation will be appreciated for generations to come. Little Pandas will know Katamari through this painting and spread the gospel.
